Yoriaki Mochizuki is a Japanese American creator and director, born and raised in Japan, where he developed a lifelong love of anime, manga, and film.
Before transitioning to directing, Mochizuki worked closely with Phil Lord and Chris Miller in a range of creative roles, including associate producer on The LEGO Ninjago Movie, head of story on The LEGO Movie 2, and story artist on the Academy Award–winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
His directing credits include the award-winning DC series Harley Quinn for Warner Bros. Animation, as well as its spin-off Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, for which he directed the pilot and served as supervising director. He has also developed numerous projects, including an original animated feature at Sony Pictures Animation with executive producers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, and the adult anime series Magic: The Gathering at Netflix with the Russo brothers.
Reflecting his cultural background, Mochizuki’s professional experience spans animation and live action, features and television, and CG and 2D. He is currently developing animated features and series, bringing a distinct Japanese sensibility to cinematic storytelling.
