I served as director and co-writer on the final episode of Toyota’s original anime series GRIP. In addition to writing and directing, I was involved in all aspects of production, including storyboarding, production design, 2D character animation, sound mixing, and poster design.
Linh’s fight choreography was originally designed with a more aggressive tone. This storyboard sequence reflects my passion for art and martial arts.
For the final shot of the film, I wanted to close on an elegant, emotionally resonant camera move: beginning with a beauty shot of the cars, pushing into a close-up of our hero, lingering on the empty passenger seat to evoke the spiritual presence of his father, then craning up to reveal  the city glowing in sunset—bringing the film full circle. Although the shot plays like it was built entirely in 3D, this animatic reveals how we recreated that depth and movement in a 2D environment to refine the camera move for the film’s finale.
