This scene marks the emotional climax of the film, in which the protagonist stork, Junior, delivers the baby and experiences a flash-forward vision when the baby touches him. My daughter was a toddler during production, and I drew from my own imagination of her future. The sequence remained consistent from my initial vision to the final film.
In this scene, Junior and Tulip smack each other to make the baby laugh and distract the wolves. To enhance the comedy, I kept the staging simple and leaned into the wolves’ expressions.
In this scene, a stork named Jasper delivers a human orphan, Tulip, to her family after she has been raised by storks. I storyboarded the sequence with minimal acting on Tulip, conveying her internal conflict primarily through subtle facial expressions.
Inspired by CSI, I storyboarded the sequence of Pigeon Toady tracking Junior and Tulip as they secretly deliver a baby to a human family. I enjoyed creating visual gags throughout the sequence to push Pigeon’s absurdity.
